Al Farah is a gourmet butchery and restaurant business in Abu Dhabi, with stores in malls. When Al Jawad Software House took over its Odoo project, there was very little in place. We rescued the project and built the system up, so that sensitive actions at the till need approval and managers can see what moved in each location. Today the project is going very well.
Where the work gets hard
The till is where trust is tested. Cancelling a sale is easy to do and hard to review afterwards.
Fresh food moves fast. Meat is received, transferred, wasted and sold, so stock rarely matches what it should.
A project with little to build on. A rescue means setting clear processes first, then putting each control in place.
What we implemented
Approvals at the till
Cancelling a sale needs a supervisor's PIN, which is stored in a protected form. The check runs in the system itself, not just on the cashier's screen. Cash movements are logged.
A trail for managers
Bill prints are counted on the order and the count cannot go down. A read-only log records each action. Management receives a report of cancelled orders and a daily email of exceptions.
Order approval
Purchase orders, sales orders and deliveries raised by certain configured groups go to a named approver and cannot be confirmed until approved. Point of sale orders are not affected.
Stock movement report
For any location and period, a report shows opening stock, receipts, transfers, wastage, ideal usage and the difference from the actual count, in PDF and Excel.

Sales summary for mall operators
An authenticated service lets mall operators read daily transaction counts and net sales per store.
How the work gets easier
| The usual way | With the new process |
|---|---|
| A cancelled sale is noticed later, if at all | It needs a PIN and shows in a report |
| Managers hunt for exceptions | A daily email lists them |
| Stock differences are explained from memory | The report compares ideal usage with the count |
Managers review exceptions instead of searching for them.
